REFRESH YOUR HOME | HAPPY NEW YEAR

one of my favorite ways to welcome a new year is by refreshing my home after Christmas decor gets put away. I have found that its less overwhelming if I keep it simple with these

6 tips:

  1. Start clean. A blank slate, if you will. Remove everything off your shelves, surfaces, etc. Dust ;)

  2. Lay it out. I like to set out what I already have and “shop” around my house before telling myself that I need all new.

  3. Place your bases, first. Such as; books and frames. Think of these as the pieces that “don’t move” as you switch some things out for smaller holidays throughout the year.

  4. Add what you have. And don’t be afraid to move things around! Be patient and keep playing with new ideas. Remember: it’s usually best to cluster in 3’s or pair (2) to create balance for the eye.

  5. Take photos. Once you’ve made it here, take a photo of the empty spots that you couldn’t quite find the right item for.

  6. Shop & Visualize! It’s not ideal, but if you don’t mind (I do this when I shop for installs!) making a return trip, purchase a few options if you’re unsure and see what works best once you have it in your home!
